Many merchants prefer to use their PCs as a way to accept cards. The benefits are many, such as merchants that offer monthly recurring billing options, memberships, large inventories and chain stores. Other merchants that benefit from POS software are physician offices, restaurants that use Point-of-Sale Systems and would like to integrate bankcard acceptance and government offices.

When it comes to POS software, we mean local software (installed on a local drive) used to process payments. This is not to be confused with Payment Gateways, which are server-side systems that enable your website to accept cards, or allows the merchant to manually enter cards online. Yet again, some systems are hybrids - server-side systems that act as a virtual terminal or Managed Payments Portal.

PCCharge

PCCharge and PCCharge Pro by VeriFone have been the workhorses of POS software for many years. Merchants that use their PCs as POS terminals, or restaurants wanting to integrate card payments with their POS Ssystem, turn to PCCharge as the solution. PCCharge gives the merchant complete card functionality, such as auths, pre-auths and settlement.

IPCharge

IPCharge is an advanced Managed Payments System that acts as POS software, as well as a Virtual Terminal. The main feature is that IPCharge can drive multiple POS terminals, and manage them remotely, such as closing all terminal batches at the same time, or placing advanced reports (such as IRS Tip reports per server) at your fingertips
